The aim of this paper is to assess the technological capability of an Iranian alloy company and introduce a method for filling its technological gap. To this end, three products which are highly demanded but at present the company is unable to produce were selected and thirty three technologies to produce these products were defined. Then a technology-need management model was applied to determine the company's technological gap. We found that fourteen out of thirty three technologies are needed to fill the company's technological gap. At the end we present a system dynamic model to assist managers for appraising policies on technology acquisition.
